On Day One, the class will discuss feudalism and the manorial system. Working in groups, they will look at and listen to a podcast. This will give them background information necessary to understand Absolutism, which the class will study during the next two lessons.
Following the movie, students will get together in groups and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of living under such a government. The students will get into groups and answer the question, what would you do as an absolute monarch? This will give the students who do not like to speak out in front of the entire class to participate. We will finish the lesson by talking about the question as a group.
