How did people first come to the America's?

Thanks to years of hard work by numerous archaeologists and other scientists, we now have a clearer understanding of how the first people came to the Americas. The picture below represents one of the more recent theories about how and where these people came from. For many years the only acceptable theory was that people arrived over the Bering Land Bridge indicated by the arrows that are at the top of the map.
