Today we are going to look at some of the major battles that took place during World War II. We will include the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Essental Question

Why are certain battles concidered turning points?
Objectives
a) Students will be able to understand how different battle led to the certian outcomes in the war.
b) Studnets will be able to cite the location of battles that took place during World War II.
c) Students will be able to gain the understanding of how to use different aspects of technology to increase understanding.
Activity
1. To start the lesson the student will watch a short movie clip about the attack on Pearl Harbor. This clip will help the students understand the difficulity that America was faced with, even though it did not wish to become in the World War.
2. Following the movie clip, we will complete a Venn Diagram on tactics used by the Japanness at Peral Harbor and the attack of the World Trade Towers.(This allows for a connection to today)
3. Lecture about the major battles that took place during World War II.
4. The student will then use Google Earth to help them reinforce the information just covered in the lecture. (ie. the location of many battles that took place in Europe and Africa) Use this Google Earth document to help you.
The studnets will complete one of two activities. They will either create a Google Earth map, focussing on a area of World War II(Major cities, concentration camps, ect.). Th second option is to create a Movie Maker Video to be shown to the entire class. Extra attention will be given to the students who create a Movie Maker Video, and do a good job. Both activites will be graded on creativeness, historical accuracy and effort.
