Day One: Internet Activity



Focus and Review of previous work/knowledge:

Focus Questions: Did the United States win World War II for the allies?
This question requires the students to draw upon previous knowledge to answer. Hopefully, the students will say yes and list major American military achievements between 1941 and 1945.

Anticipatory set:


Timeline: With the help of the teacher, the students will create a timeline that lists all the major battles or turning points in all fronts of the war. The point is to help the students see the commitments of American military forces to all corners of the world.

Instructional Activity:


1.) The class will go to the computer lab
2.) Students will each turn on and log into a computer.
3.) The students will open the Internet Activity Word Document
4.) The students will individually complete the activity and the worksheet.
5.) The students will turn in the worksheet at the end of class.

Guided practice and checking for understanding:


The teacher will provide technological help and monitor the classroom while Students independently work at their stations.

Independent practice:


The students will investigate the importance of major World War II events. They will follow the instructions in the Internet Activity Word Documents, and complete their essays.

Closure:


The students will quickly summarize how the United States became a warring nation and the major events in which it was involved.
